Bid Number : 067-EE01  Opening Date : March 22, 2005
Bid Title : Metal Detection Program
Buyer : John Berry
Subject : Response to Question
Question : I have a question about the Metal Detection Program (bid). I have not read all of the information about the bid, but I saw that we must provide 3 references of contracts where we use metal detectors within the past two years. My question is: If a company has contracts with night clubs where they use metal detectors, would this be accepted as a valid reference? Thank you.
Answer : You can submit your documentation and a determination will be made during the evaluation process.

Subject : Response to Question
Question : under use of portable walk through metal detectors, it asks for a quantity of 44 units. Are you looking for 44 hours over the two year contract or do we need to have 44 walk through units. If so how many hours would be used during the two year contract? It also states that we will be using mostly hand held metal detectors. Also will there be need for these services in the summer or just during the regular school year.
Answer : The estimated quantities provided in the bid proposal are for bidders guidance only. No guarantee is express or implied as to the quantities that will be used during the contract period. Please refer to Special Condition Number 2 entitled "Estimated Quantities". This service is required year-round.

Subject : Response to Question
Question : I am sending you this E-mail again as I have not seen a response to this question. I need to know what the answers are as to turn in my bid Thank You Mr. Berry, under use of portable walk through metal detectors, it asks for a quantity of 44 units. Are you looking for 44 hours over the two year contract or do we need to have 44 walk through units. If so how many hours would be used during the two year contract? It also states that we will be using mostly hand held metal detectors. Also will there be need for these services in the summer or just during the regular school year.
Answer : An attempt was made to post a response on the 15th. However, due to a system failure, this did not happen. Again. The estimated quantities provided in the bid are for bidders guidance only. No guarantee is expressed or implied, as to quantities that will be used during the contract period. The estimate is based on previous usage plus a contingency. 44 hours for the use of portable, walk-through metal detector is what is requested. The service is year-round.

Question : I understand that these quantities are just an estimate, I am asking what does it mean about the 44 units for the walk through metal detectors. I am not clear as if you are looking for 44 walk through metal detectors or 44 hours of use. This is what I need cleared up. Also if you are asking for 44 walk through metal detectors then how many hours of use would be needed for these items? Again I understand that these quantities will just be an estimate though we need to be clear as to provide you with the best bid possible. again Thank You.
Answer : 44 hours for the use of portable, walk-through metal detector.
