MDCPS follows procurement laws, protocols and guidelines, therefore although the pilot program vendor is already conducting business at MDCPS rest assured that there is no actual nor perceived advantage over any other bidder. We acknowledge that there are other companies willing and able to provide the items we determined would be acceptable within the districts policies and are therefore seeking open, fair and competitive pricing from qualified potential vendors. The only preconceived conclusion made in this process was the determination that our students like sushi products. All bid submittals will be evaluated equally and the evaluation will follow all established laws, policies and procedures. No vendor has an advantage, we evaluate based upon our product specifications and pricing as well as student acceptability. The individuals who selected Sushi Maki are the decision makers for MDCPS when it comes to food purchases therefore, yes, those individuals will continue to participate in the evaluation process complying with all federal, state and local procurement rules. If testing or sampling is required after the bids are submitted these individuals will conduct those evaluations since their expertise is of extreme value to the process.
